Pierce County Aging and Disability Resources is offering a free screening this month of “August: Osage County,” another film in the agency’s caregiving series.

The 2014 movie stars Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts as an acid-tongued cancer patient and her stressed-out daughter, respectively.  The film is recommended as one of the top-five caregiving films by SeniorAdvisor.com and is rated R for strong language, sexual references and drug use.

“August: Osage County” will show March 9 at the Grand Cinema in Tacoma, which is at 605 Fawcett Ave. Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. and the film will start at 10:45. Complimentary popcorn will be provided by Advanced Home Care.

Free tickets must be obtained in advance at www.pierceaadrc.org or by calling the Aging and Disability Resource Center at 253-798-4600.

The movie portrays the challenges of balancing caregiving roles among family members and the spectrum of emotions faced as caregiving becomes a necessity. The plot shows how memories, old hurts and raw emotions can surface to pull families apart even as caregiving needs continue to increase.
