Committees forming “for” and “against” library levy

As part of its ballot measure that’s going to voters this fall, Pierce County Library System is asking for citizens to participate in the “For” or “Against” committees involving the restoration levy, also known as a levy lid lift.

For the general election that ends Nov. 6, the library system (PCLS) will ask voters to restore its regular property tax levy rate to its fully authorized level of 50 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value.

The Pierce County auditor’s office, which oversees local elections, requires jurisdictions with a ballot measure in the local voters’ pamphlet to seek and appoint members to “For” and “Against” committees. Requests to be involved must be made to PCLS at pmcbride@piercecountylibrary.org by July 27 at 5 p.m. Inquiries should include name, email address and phone number.
