Earthquakes readiness and survival to be discussed

“Shift Happens” is the title of a symposium scheduled for Oct. 16 in Lakewood on the subject of earthquake preparedness and responses.

The event, which will include information on community resources, will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Clover Park Technical College in Building 3. Pierce County’s Department of Emergency Management and Aging and Disability Resources are the sponsors.

Presenters will include KING-TV science reporter Glenn Farley. He will show some of his earthquake-related stories and elaborate on how the Puget Sound region has prepared, the gaps in those preparations, and how families – especially families with seniors or people with disabilities – can survive a disaster and up to six weeks post-earthquake before any heavily damaged, countywide infrastructure is restored.
