Local races for office and statewide ballot measures are being decided in the general election that concludes Nov. 5, the final day of voting.

Depending on where they live, voters are choosing among candidates for city councils and/or mayor, school boards, port commissions, and fire and water districts. Everyone has a say on state measures, including one affecting automobile taxes and fees and affirmative action laws.

Ballots must be mailed (postmarked) or deposited in official dropboxes on or before Nov. 5. Additional information is available from county election departments.
