A free health screening for diabetes will be offered Nov. 15 in Edgewood by the Diabetes Association of Pierce County and Mountain View Community Center.
No appointment is necessary for the service, which will be available from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the center at 3505 122nd Ave. E. Persons must be at least 18 years old to receive the screening. It’s not a fasting test, so people can eat what they normally eat before the screening. Additional information is available from the community center at 253-826-4329 and bethannj@mtviewcc.org
Diabetes can be managed through diet and healthcare. But an estimated 7 million people in the United States have undiagnosed diabetes, which can lead to health problems or death.
