After a combined 12 years as a lawmaker at the state and county levels of government, Hans Zeiger is leaving elected politics and government service to take a job leading a national non-profit organization that advances American history and civic education.
Zeiger announced in June he will resign from the Pierce County Council effective July 31. His temporary replacement will be appointed by the rest of the council.
“My time in state and local government has been an adventure and a privilege, filled with the joys and challenges of collaboration and problem-solving and service,” said Zeiger, who was elected to the council in 2020 and previously was a state representative and state senator for 10 years.
He lives in Puyallup, one of the communities he has represented.
