Honoring ‘the bonds’ of assisted-living

National Assisted Living Week produced a proclamation from Gig Harbor Mayor Jill Guernsey (pictured, Mallard's-Landing1-webleft) in recognition of The Lodge at Mallard’s Landing, which celebrated the occasion by bringing together residents, families, employees, volunteers and the surrounding community. “The ability to care for our elders in Gig Harbor is an awesome responsibility we do not take for granted,” said Linda Potter (right), executive director of The Lodge. “This celebration recognizes the bonds built between residents and the assisted-living professionals who are committed to providing person-centered care and services.” National Assisted Living Week, which was formally observed Sept. 13-19, recognizes the residents of assisted-living communities and the facilities’ staff members. The annual observance was created by the National Center for Assisted Living and the Washington Health Care Association.
