The Kent area is home to King County Library System’s newest—and 50th overall—branch library with the opening of Kent Panther Lake Library.
The $3.3 million, 5,300-square-feet facility that opened March 23at 20514 108th St. SE. in the Kent East Hill community was the last of 17 new libraries to be completed under a $172 million capital bond measure that has also funded expansions or renovations of 26 other libraries. Voters approved the bond in 2004,
A repurposed building that houses the Kent Panther Lake Library features computers, wireless access and designated spaces for children and teens. The structure has energy-efficient windows and sensor-controlled lighting to reduce electricity costs, low-flow plumbing fixtures, carpeting made from recycled material, and energy-efficient ventilation and air conditioning.
