Here’s what to know if you’re a Medicare enrollee and want to get a COVID-10 vaccine:
- Medicare covers costs of receiving the vaccine. Take your Medicare card or number to vaccination appointments at healthcare providers or pharmacies so they can bill Medicare.
- If you can’t find your card, you can view your Medicare number or print your Medicare card from your online Medicare account. Or call 1-800-MEDICARE.
- Pharmaceutical manufacturers are distributing the vaccine to federal and state-approved vaccination sites. Information on prioritization of vaccinations and locations for them is available from the state Department of Health at 1-800-525-0127, doh.wa.gov, and vaccine@doh.wa.gov.
- Officials urge consumers to be alert for scammers trying to steal Medicare numbers. For instance, you shouldn’t share personal or financial information if someone calls, texts, or e-mails you promising early access to the vaccine for a fee or offering to put your name on a list to be vaccinated. It’s all scam.
