National memory care award goes to Prestige

Prestige Care, whose senior living communities and skilled nursing care centers include locations in Pierce, King and Kitsap counties, has received a national honor for its memory care program.
The company’s new Expressions service was presented the 2012 Innovators Award from the International Council on Active Aging, a national organization. The award spotlights creativity in making a difference in the lives of older adults.
“Our caregivers know each resident’s personal life story, which allows them to integrate individualized care and activities into our memory care programs. The result is fewer challenging behaviors and enhanced happiness and well-being for those living with dementia,” said Prestige Care president Harold Delamarter.
Prestige developed the Expressions in collaboration with David Troxel, a nationally recognized expert on dementia disease care.
Prestige facilities include Olympic Alzheimer’s Residence in Gig Harbor, Expressions at Enumclaw, and Orchard Pointe Memory Care Community in Port Orchard.
