On a recent afternoon and just a few blocks from the company’s South Lake Union office in Seattle, Amazon customer service employees were at Mirabella, a Seattle retirement home, helping more than 20 of the residents get more familiar with their technology devices.
From Kindles to iPhones, laptops and ablets, the Amazon employees used many of the skills they hone at work to help the residents with whatever questions they had.
A company spokesman said Amazon is proud to support the communities where employees live and work, and workers “were glad they could support their fantastic and friendly neighbors at Mirabella.”
Over the past few months, a group of Amazon workers has been organizing and making similar trips to local senior centers and retirement communities. The employees “have a passion for technology and know firsthand the power it can have in bringing people together,” the company spokesman said.
