Election day is a little over a month away for the general election. While the presidential campaign is getting most of the attention, local races include one for Pierce County executive, in which the candidates are Bruce Dammeier and Rick Talbert (pictured from left), seen here participating in a forum Sept. 9 in Tacoma sponsored by the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce. Voting will begin after election officials in Pierce and King counties and elsewhere mail ballots to voters on Oct. 19. Nov. 8 is the last day voters will be able to return their ballots via the mail or official dropboxes provided by the counties.
