Five senior living communities in Tacoma will jointly host group tours of their facilities on Aug. 13 in an effort to help prospective residents make an educated decision on their potential new home.
A spokesman for the communities – Franke Tobey Jones, Weatherly Inn, Tacoma Lutheran Retirement, Narrows Glen and Merrill Gardens – said they “are coming together to help consumers find the very best community that will fit your wants, needs, desires, location and budget. Together, we want to make sure you are well educated and cared for if you are considering moving to a senior living community.”
Tour participants can start at any of the five communities listed below by either driving themselves to each location or taking the community vans. The van pick up/drop off locations, in the order in which the vans will travel. are:
• Franke Tobey Jones—Bistro Cafe | 5340 N. Bristol St
• Weatherly Inn—Main Entrance | 6016 N. Highlands Parkway
• Tacoma Lutheran Retirement Community—Innovation Home | 1301 N. Highlands Parkway
• Narrows Glen—Main entrance | 8201 6th Avenue
• Merrill Gardens—Main entrance | 7290 Rosemount Circle
The tour starts at 10 a.m. start at any one of the five communities. Participants will hear a short presentation about the day’s activities and then tour that community.
At 11 a.m., they’ll get aboard the community van and go to the next community or drive in their own car.
Each van will have a representative from that community on board to answer questions.
Participants are urged to explore “as many of communities as you would like,” the tour spokesman said. The tour ends at 4 p.m., “and we’ll make sure you get back to your starting community,” the spokesman added.
