The South Sound-Tacoma 2014 Walk to End Alzheimer’s, sponsored by Alzheimer’s Association, will be held Sept. 13.
Coordinated by the association’s western and central Washington chapter, the fund-raising event will be staged at Thea’s Park in Tacoma. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by an opening ceremony at 9:30 and the two-mile walk at 10.
Proceeds will support the Alzheimer’s Association’s care, support and research in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. More information is available at alz.org.
The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for efforts against Alzheimer’s, sixith-leading cause of death in the U.S. Walks are held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide. There is no fee to enter, but each participant is asked to solicit pledges of financial support.
In addition to Tacoma, a walk is scheduled in Bremerton on Sept. 14.
